There are types that to put the source of heat under a tatami, the type that tatami itself runs hot, and there are types to lay a tatami on a conventional floor heater.

Tatami used to be thick conventionally because the feeling used to be the serious consideration that it had been intercepted even if you put the source of heat below.
Because a thin, comfortable tatami (about15mm thickness) had been developed, it opened a way to a floor heater in a tatami.
Even the thing which puts the heating element which led to an electric outlet between the tatami inside, the thing which has a temperature sensor in a tatami facing, the thing that heat conduction is good even if there is thickness, various products came out.

Construction is simple and is reliable even if there are a child and the elderly because it does not cause a fire.
Of course, other than winter, you can use it as a normal tatami.

When you take a nap on these floor heated tatami, you might fall into a deep sleep.

There is a method of "a reversing", "changing tatami facing", and "new tatami" to exchange a tatami mat.

When you sit down on a tatami or lie, there can be the thing that clothes are accompanied by a threadbare small rush from tatami facing.
That is a sign for reversing a tatami.
It is also a sign of flip, when tatami facing discolors, and to become brown.
Generally an aim is 2 or 3 years.

A rush grass becomes fluffy from tatami faxing, and when a stain occurs, it’s a good idea to change the tatami facing.
Fluffy means when rush grass wears out to become fluffy and is to stand.
It is a sign for changing tatami facing, which generally in 7 years.

If unevenness of tatami facing becomes remarkable and when you walk and feel it soft, let's replace it for a new tatami.
Generally an aim is 15-30 years.

Let's use a vacuum cleaner on a tatami mat.
When you wipe it with a dry cloth, it becomes more beautiful.

There are some points for cleaning of a tatami.

        ●Vacuum Clean
The point is to run along grain of a tatami, slow without laying emphasis.
It’ll damage tatami facing if you run against the grain of tatami.

●Wipe with a dry cloth
Wipe the whole side of tatami, including the hem, with a dry cloth, after having absorbed dust with a vacuum cleaner.
When it is awfully stained, wipe it with a rug which you wring out firmly and cut water.
Do not use wet rug. Mold may grow.
In addition, make ventilation better sometimes.
It is ventilation of a room at the same time to air futon in a porch on a fine day.
A tatami is weak in moisture
Furthermore, air is easy to go in a tatami when you lift one corner of a tatami with an empty can.

But of direct rays of the sun make too much a hit, and is not good.
A tatami is easy to come to ache, and sunburns increase.

Ask a tatami-maker for the disposal of unwanted tatami.
A fee may apply for a pick up.
For some area, their local government disposes it for you.

Because harmful gas such as dioxin occurs when you just burn a tatami in an incinerator that tatami-maker and the local government must hand it over to a processing supplier as industrial waste.
Straw and chemical substances (Styrofoam etc.) have to be separated for recycling.

There are about 1,000,000 quires of old tatami each year.
A redisposition device for exclusive use of a tatami mat is developed while a disposal cost becomes a social problem.

If tatami facing does a change of color (sunburn) in sunlight and wears out, let's reverse a tatami mat.
(There is tatami facing on both sides)

You may depend on tatami-maker, and it is not that even one can not do it.
It’s a good idea to change tatami hem at the same time.
An aim to reverse a tatami mat depends on the use situation, but every two or three years are common.

When it is stained when you reverse the tatami, or if you’ve already reversed it in the past, you have to renew tatami facing. (Omote gae)
When a stain/crut is too terrible, tatami mat in itself becomes unstable, and a hindrance is given even if you reverse it.
Let’s think well for a timing of flip.

Chemical Tatami is a tatami where tatami flooring is made with formation product such as a polystyrene form or an insulation board.
Because it does not use straw, a mite and mold are hard to occur and are hygienic.
This is the first factor that a chemical tatami was developed.

There is a chemical tatami with a little straw, and this is called “a straw sand tatami flooring”.
Pure straw tatami flooring is tending to decrease these days that a ratio of chemical tatami becomes more than half.

Good points of Chemical Tatami
-A mite and mold are hard to occur and are hygienic and healthy
-It is light, and carrying around is simple（Weight is about a one-third of a straw tatami）
- There are few changes of color by sunlight
- Because it does not require much technology for production, a price is cheap

Bad points of Chemical Tatami
- Remnant life of chemical tatami is shorter than a straw tatami
- It has little absorbency which is one of the important characteristics of a tatami
- The touch is firm
- Because dioxin occurs when you burn it, it is a troublesome task for disposal
- It can become a factor of chemical sensitivity syndrome

Have you seen a tatami being spread all over at washing space of a hot spring and a bating institution?
They are Washable Tatami.
A washable tatami is useful in a general household.

<![CDATA[A washable tatami uses a special board for tatami flooring and picks up the top and bottom with a foaming body of polyethylene and uses the artificial rush which is made with polypropylene for tatami facing.
Both polypropylene and polyethylene are water-shedding, and this is the secret to be able to wash.

An unexpected stain at the time of care of a sick person or an elderly, a wheel trace of a wheelchair, a smell and hair by room pet can be washed away.

Because it is not a natural rush, a mite and mold are hard to occur, and there is thermal effect / a moisture absorption effect by a foaming body.

How to wash a Washable Tatami is to rub with scrubbing brushes while you lean a tatami outdoors, and pour cold or warm water. It’s the same way with washing a screen door.
After scrubbing the tatami, pour water to the entire tatami including the back side of tatami and make sure to drop dirt well.
Because you can use hot water up to 60 degrees (Celsius) that you can wash it in winter.

Flooring has slender looks and it is functional, but it could give you a pain in a foot when you sit down directly.
The thing that what get cold from a step in winter is hard to a person having poor circulation, that when you have Tatami Carpet on Western-style room, it will fix this problem, and it will give you the fresh sense that it feels like you renovated the room.

It can be cut into a shape of a room to fit in, which normal tatami can not.

It is also possible to put it on regular tatami which needs to be changed, to control the expense.
(We do not recommend it very much though)

Small version of Tatami Carpet can be used as a doormat, for a little alcove, or a mat for a flower vase.

You can easily redecorate it if you do flooring with plural colors by sorting them.

The color will not be stained on your clothes or hands.
There is not a smell, too, but uneven coloring occurs because it is dyed with a natural rush.

It is hard to change color even if it tans and does not stand out.

Weight is around 1/3 of the tatami which uses only straw.
Because it is cheap, light weight, good heat retention and absorbency, it is practical, but it may be said that after all a straw tatami can be superior with the durability and the feel.
